The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) New York, in collaboration with Xavier University School of Medicine, Aruba, successfully organized a BLS, CPR, and AED Certification Training Program on February 7, 2026. This initiative brought together community members, healthcare enthusiasts, and volunteers to strengthen lifesaving preparedness and promote public health awareness.
Aligned with the missions of both TANA and XUSOM, the program emphasized medical education, community engagement, and empowerment through practical emergency response training. By focusing on Basic Life Support (BLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, the event addressed a critical need for hands-on lifesaving skills within the community.
More than 30 participants completed the professional certification program through a combination of theoretical learning and practical application. Certified trainers guided attendees through real-life scenarios, building confidence and competence in responding to cardiac emergencies. Participants learned to recognize cardiac arrest, perform high-quality CPR, and use AED devices effectively—skills proven to improve survival outcomes when applied promptly.
Beyond technical training, the program emphasized awareness, preparedness, and quick decision-making. Attendees valued the interactive format and supportive learning environment, which strengthened both individual abilities and collective community readiness.
This initiative reflects the strong sense of social responsibility shared by TANA and XUSOM. By extending medical education beyond the classroom, both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to service, leadership, and public well-being, ensuring that lifesaving knowledge remains accessible to the wider community.

January was a powerful start to the new year at XUSOM! 💙 We welcomed new students during Orientation, celebrated an important milestone at our White Coat Ceremony, and expanded our outreach with trips to Florida and ongoing admissions events in India. 🌍✈️
Closer to home, our students also took part in a meaningful Health Fair with Aruba Customs, continuing our commitment to community wellness. 🩺🤝
